FREE: Food Technology, Safety and Quality Workshop
Date: January 14, 2016

In this free workshop, instructor Pirouz Yousefian leads a discussion about a career in Food Technology, Safety and Quality. This workshop is designed to help students understand what a prospective career in Food Technology, Safety and Quality requires, but is beneficial to those currently employed in the Food and Beverage industry who are seeking opportunities for career development as well.

FREE: Nutrition, Health and Sport Workshop
Date: January 15, 2016

Should you be interested in a career which deals with food, health and wellness, this interdisciplinary program is ideal for you. Instructor Pirouz Yousefian educates attendees about basic nutrition, diet planning and the role food plays in the body, fitness, health and disease.

FREE: Eating for Energy, Productivity and Stress Reduction Workshop
Date: January 21, 2016

Food affects our mood, energy levels, stress response, concentration, cravings and emotions. You can control your level of mental performance or relaxation by choosing the right combination of foods. A nutritional deficiency creates stress. Instructor Ara Wiseman explains how stress is implicated in every symptom we experience and how it affects your thoughts and feelings along with your health, and offers nutritional strategies to manage the symptoms of stress.

HPLC for Food Analysis
Date: January 23 & 30, 2016

Taught by Jason Chu, this course will discuss factors that must be considered when selecting an appropriate HPLC analytical method for food analyte determination. AAPS is excited to provide this specialized course as HPLC methods have become the preferred technique for food analysis in the industry. Participants will be provided with hands-on HPLC training in our Quality Control laboratory.

Good Sanitation Practices Requirements and Regulations – Food and Pharma Industries
Date: January 28, 2016

Instructor Pirouz Yousefian provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to evaluate and inspect the sanitary status of food/pharma plants. The workshop is particularly designed to provide strong understanding of the applicable Health Canada Regulations, GMPs and industry best practices. The course covers an introduction to hygienic practices, regulatory requirements for sanitation programs and modern sanitation practices in food and pharma processing facilities.

Fundamentals of GMPs
Date: January 29, 2016

Pauline McGregor is a pharmaceutical consultant and owner of PMcG Consulting. She has over twenty five years’ experience in the Pharmaceutical industry and holds a Ph.D in chemistry. She is an expert in quality systems and procedures, GMP regulations and analytical chemistry. In this course, she will outline and explain the fundamentals of GMPs in a clear and comprehensive way.

Food Handler Certificate
Date: January 30, 2016

AAPS’ training and certification is delivered in partnership with the Toronto Board of Health meeting all mandatory provincial food safety training requirements. This food handling program is recognized by all health units in Ontario. AAPS’ Food Handler Certification Program teaches food handlers the general principles of safe food handling, includes, but is not limited to, topics such as Public Health Legislation and Understanding Foodborne Illnesses.
