Taking HPLC Courses? Here’s How You Can Apply Your Training to the Food Industry

When it comes to analyzing samples, HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) is a technique that proves useful in a number of different situations and industries. HPLC is a process in which organic compounds of a sample are separated and analyzed in order to determine what compounds – and in what quantities – the sample contains. A highly accurate and precise technique, HPLC allows for both qualitative and quantitative analysis and can be applied for identification, purification and quantification, in addition to separation. If you’re considering HPLC training, your qualifications will enable you to enter a number of fields, including healthcare, pharma,.. READ MORE »

3 Fields Where You Can Apply Your HPLC Training

HPLC stands for High-Performance Liquid Chromatography – a technique for separating organic compounds in order to analyze them. Today, it can be used for separation, identification, purification, and quantification. Due to its accuracy and precision, HPLC has become a popular method of examining samples across many industries.  HPLC is frequently used in pharmaceutical research, as well as the health and food industries for analyzing the nutritional benefits of different foods and enforcing food safety standards. With the right training, you’ll be equipped to work in professional laboratories across various fields. Read on for a closer look at where your career.. READ MORE »

How Vitamins are Measured by Professionals with HPLC Training

The understanding that vitamins are essential to good health goes without saying, but what exactly is a vitamin? Vitamins are organic compounds that are vital for the body. When an organism cannot produce, or synthesize, a compound sufficiently in their body, and therefore must obtain it through diet, the compound is then called a vitamin. In order for people to understand which foods contain which vitamins and in what amount, High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) methods are used by HPLC professionals to isolate and measure how much of a particular vitamin is in each food. Continue reading to discover how.. READ MORE »

Why Pros with HPLC Training Are an Important Part of the Food and Drink Industry

Every day, trained professionals use high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to analyze food samples and keep consumers safe. HPLC is a useful and important method for separating the liquid components of food samples into their core chemical compounds. By breaking down complex mixtures using specialized chemical detectors, HPLC pros identify, classify, and quantify a food’s components— thereby detecting any unusual additives or contaminants present. Because consumer food safety is such an important responsibility, most countries have established tolerance levels for chemical additives and contaminants allowed in food products. In Canada, HPLC training programs teach students how to comply with the nation’s.. READ MORE »

Students Begin A New Semester

This week students at AAPS begin a new academic term. AAPS is excited to share what our students will be learning in upcoming weeks. The term marks the beginning for AAPS’ Introduction to Good Manufacturing Practices course where students will learn the history, rational and purpose behind GMP requirements. Students will be taught the importance of packaging, labeling, testing and control of pharmaceutical products. In our Laboratory series, students enrolled in AAPS Pharmaceutical Laboratory Testing course will be taught practical application of pharmaceutical analysis and techniques as well as Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). This particular course thoroughly prepares students for a pharmaceutical.. READ MORE »

Students Learn HPLC Techniques

Last week, AAPS’  HPLC students visited our simulated QC laboratory to expand on their knowledge of content uniformity. Guided by their instructor Jason Chu, students demonstrated their ability to determine the variability of acetaminophen tablets. Using HPLC, students were able to separate and identify the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) of their samples. Before applying the analytical technique, they first had to prepare the mobile phase and set up HPLC instruments. Once they completed their experiment, they were asked to process their findings using Empower, validated software, which allows the user to control chromatography instruments and process data for HPLC, UPLC and Gas Chromatography. Proficiency in HPLC and HPLC data analysis software are.. READ MORE »

AAPS’ Pharmaceutical Students Complete their Third Term with Final Exams

Congratulations go out to AAPS’ Pharmaceutical Students who recently wrote exams on HPLC techniques and general laboratory testing. The exam was made of two parts: written and practical tests. Students were asked to answer questions on analytic chemistry and later asked to demonstrate their learnings in AAPS’ state-of-the-art laboratory. “This is the first time we’ve asked students to demonstrate their knowledge in person” says instructor, Jason Chu. “This form of evaluation benefits the students in developing their practical skills for the pharmaceutical industry.” Chu is newly welcomed to the AAPS Faculty and joins AAPS with 5 years of experience as..
