A History of How HPLC Became Common in Pharmaceutical Testing

High Performance Liquid Chromatography is used in many industries including in the pharmaceutical, food, cosmetic, and the environmental sectors. The history of HPLC begins with the invention of chromatography itself, just after the turn of the 20th century. It has since evolved to become the liquid chromatography we know and use today. If you’re hoping to work with testing in the pharmaceutical industry, you may be interested to know the history of how HPLC came to be. Interestingly, many of the developments along HPLC’s journey came from industry professionals and not from university researchers or professors. Read on to learn.. READ MORE »

Why Pros with HPLC Training Are an Important Part of the Food and Drink Industry

Every day, trained professionals use high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to analyze food samples and keep consumers safe. HPLC is a useful and important method for separating the liquid components of food samples into their core chemical compounds. By breaking down complex mixtures using specialized chemical detectors, HPLC pros identify, classify, and quantify a food’s components— thereby detecting any unusual additives or contaminants present. Because consumer food safety is such an important responsibility, most countries have established tolerance levels for chemical additives and contaminants allowed in food products. In Canada, HPLC training programs teach students how to comply with the nation’s.. READ MORE »

Upcoming Certificate Course: HPLC School

High Performance Liquid Chromatography, or HPLC, is a technique for separating organic and inorganic compounds in order to analyze them. HPLC is used in many different industries like biological, pharmaceutical, food and drink, environmental and even industrial to analyze samples. HPLC is a very popular method of compound analysis since it’s quite easy to learn and use, and it is not limited by a compound’s volatility or stability. Modern HPLC has been applied in many situations such as separation, identification, purification and quantification. From February 1st to 12th, AAPS is offering the course HPLC School. Training with the best in.. READ MORE »

Considering HPLC Training? 5 Common Contaminants to Avoid

High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is a technique used to analyze samples in a variety of industries, from biological to environmental to industrial and beyond—even throughout the food, drink, and pharmaceutical industries. To master HPLC, you must learn to use chemical techniques to study organic and inorganic compounds in order to analyze their chemical properties. Specialized training can teach you safe and effective ways to identify, separate, quantify, and ultimately purify a wide variety of chemical compounds, regardless of their volatility or stability. But with the risk of impurities ever present, it’s important to ensure contaminants don’t sabotage your future.. READ MORE »

Students Begin A New Semester

This week students at AAPS begin a new academic term. AAPS is excited to share what our students will be learning in upcoming weeks. The term marks the beginning for AAPS’ Introduction to Good Manufacturing Practices course where students will learn the history, rational and purpose behind GMP requirements. Students will be taught the importance of packaging, labeling, testing and control of pharmaceutical products. In our Laboratory series, students enrolled in AAPS Pharmaceutical Laboratory Testing course will be taught practical application of pharmaceutical analysis and techniques as well as Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). This particular course thoroughly prepares students for a pharmaceutical.. READ MORE »

Students Learn HPLC Techniques

Last week, AALast week, AAPS’  HPLC students visited our simulated QC laboratory to expand on their knowledge of content uniformity. Guided by their instructor Jason Chu, students demonstrated their ability to determine the variability of acetaminophen tablets. Using HPLC, students were able to separate and identify the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) of their samples. Before applying the analytical technique, they first had to prepare the mobile phase and set up HPLC instruments. Once they completed their experiment, they were asked to process their findings using Empower, validated software, which allows the user to control chromatography instruments and process data for HPLC, UPLC and Gas Chromatography. Proficiency in HPLC and HPLC data.. READ MORE »
