Program Overview

The purpose of the program is to prepare students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge for entry-level and mid-level positions in cannabis production facilities, cannabis testing laboratories, medical cannabis clinics as well as cannabis retail stores.

This program provides an overview of the regulations, quality assurance principles, as well as cultivation, laboratory, and extraction techniques currently being applied in the cannabis industry. Areas of study include: developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), conducting analytical testing for THC and CBD, owning and operating a cannabis retail store, utilizing seed-to-sale tracking software, understanding the pharmacological mechanisms of cannabis, and developing a comprehensive understanding of compliance in relation to the production and distribution of medical and recreational cannabis. In addition, the course covers key areas related to edible cannabis products such as creating a Preventative Control Plan (PCP) and following HACCP. Graduates will be prepared to work in a number of different roles in the burgeoning cannabis industry.

Graduates should find employment opportunities in cannabis production facilities and other environments such as cannabis testing laboratories and cannabis retail stores.
