Food Service Worker Certificate Program
Total Weeks:16 Weeks – 8 weeks in class plus 8 weeks of practical placement
Practical Placement: Minimum 20 hours/week
The Food Service Worker delivers quality nutrition care and service in an environment such as hospitals, institutions, special-care and long term care facilities. The program will provide students with the skills and abilities required to perform effectively in institutional food preparation settings. Customer service, safe food-handling techniques, safety, nutrition, communications, food and beverage preparation and service are covered under this certificate program.
Students who enroll in this program would also receive Food Handling Certificate as approved by Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and Toronto Public Health.
This program is mandated by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care for all staff employed in the position of food service worker in long-term care dietary environments.

There will be an arranged work experience field placement in a Food Service or a Healthcare Facility. The work placement allow you to gain hands-on experience in a real world work environment in the field of study. Additionally the practical placement provides you with the networking opportunity to further enhance the employment opportunity.
