At AAPS, our Food Technology, Safety and Quality diploma program is designed to help students gain hands-on knowledge and develop a smart approach to food safety and quality. This allows them the opportunity to earn food safety certification after the course. The program combines specialized knowledge and skills that are designed to meet the requirements of the fundamental principles of quality assurance of food. The program is expertly designed to be useful for entry level food safety professionals or to supplement career development in the food and beverage industry.
The integrated approach at AAPS means that students will be supplied with the foundations and knowledge to develop, implement and maintain the food safety program through the use of tools like Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) to make sure that food and other products comply with both national and international safety requirements and quality standards.

Food Safety Certifications
Becoming food safety certified is necessary to work in many food and beverage related environments and occupations. Food and beverage servers, food preparers, chefs, sous-chefs, kitchen preparation works and many more occupations all require food safety certification, as do many jobs in institutional settings or large scale food manufacturing. Also, having a high caliber of skills and standards for food safety and quality makes you more attractive to prospective employers. It’s also important to possess food safety certification if you’re planning on advancing your career in the food and beverage industry, as well as for training others.
Students who register in the Food Technology, Safety and Quality diploma program are eligible to attend a training session for a food handling certificate absolutely free of charge – a $70 value – and obtain the food safety issued by the City of Toronto that’s valid for five years.
